After the soft opening in February Amorim Turismo Group celebrated the Grand Opening of its five star resort in Tróia peninsula - The Tróia Design Hotel.
The Tróia Design Hotel is a 5-star resort situated in the magnificent peninsula of Tróia, one hour away from the International Airport of Lisbon. Situated in front of the marina, a few steps away from the beach, this hotel has 144 residential suites (apartments T0, T1, T2 and T3) and 61 luxury rooms, a Spa, a Conference Centre and in future will have a Casino and Entertainment Centre.
Tróia Design Hotel has huge potential. It offers leisure, entertainment, business, restaurant, culture and design spaces, which are enhanced by the unique natural surrounding countryside: white sandy beaches, high-quality golf courses and various activities inspired by the location: the Atlantic Ocean, the tranquillity of the Sado River and the Beauty of the Arrábida Mountain.
The hotel has a 1200m2 Blue&Green Spa with 15 rooms and more than 70 treatments provided by qualified therapists. With the huge diversity of treatments available, inspired by various continents, Clients can embark on a sensory trip around the world. The Blue&Green Spa offers four distinct treatment areas: the dry zone, the Green Spa, the Balneotherapy - Blue Spa, Aesthetics and the Water Zone.
The resort includes 4 swimming pools, two with internal heating, one of which is used for treatments, as well as two outside pools, one especially for children and the other with fountains, boasting a panoramic view where one can take in the pure air of the mountain and feel the sea breeze.
For the younger ones, we have a kids club. The unique concept of the Koala Kids Club includes a varied programme of entertainment consisting of indoor and outdoor activities in the company of imaginary creatures - the koala bear and the kookaburra - and professional event managers.
The restaurants designed by the FSSMGN architectural studio are true design pieces. Here you will discover different but equally delicious styles of cuisine. The Brasserie Salinas, an elegant space with emphasis on gastronomy of Atlantic origin and a strong focus on the flavours of the sea, has a wide patio extending outdoors, where you can soak in the sunlight. The B&G Restaurant, with a more sophisticated ambience and contemporary design, offers a menu of Portuguese cuisine inspired by the flavours of the region. The hotel also has three bars. The Paprika Pool Bar, next to the swimming pools, with an uncluttered view of the Arrábida Mountain, offers delicious snacks, salads and natural juices for the hottest days of the year. At night, we recommend the NYX Lounge Bar, with an innovative décor and design, which has a disco where you can listen to music and dance. And the B.A.R. next to the reception is the ideal place to relax with a drink or coffee while you read the news of the day.
The Tróia Design Hotel's Conference Centre is one of the distinctive aspects of this unique project which is strategic for the region and the location. The Conference Centre is fully equipped with the latest audiovisual technology, including a Functions Hall, which can be divided into four, with the capacity to receive up to 1000 people, and eight additional meeting and breakout rooms, all with natural lighting.
At the same time, this new project which is part of the collection of the Great Hotels of the World will be complemented by an Entertainment Centre and a Casino with a gambling area, which will bring new dynamic night-life to those visiting the peninsula on business or on holiday.
The architectural project carried out by Promontório Architects focused on renovation of the hotel designed in the 60s by the top Portuguese Architect Conceiçăo Silva, maintaining continuity in the materials used in the original architecture: glass, concrete and chromework, blended with wood and lacquer. The concept, based on transparency and a play on lights, and the input of Promontório Interior Design, has brought about a sophisticated but not excessive ambience, with a contemporary, comfortable and inviting design.
The rooms and apartments are a perfect combination between comfort and high technology. They have wide verandas, some of which have jacuzzis, where the client can appreciate the brilliant views of the marina, the sea, the river or the mountain. The use of glass in the compartments of the room creates a greater sense of space, emphasising the unique relationship between the interiors of the building and the natural landscape. Guaranteed comfort is provided by the Blue&Green Dreams bed. The furniture collection was designed almost completely for the hotel and is complemented by pieces with international brand names of contemporary design, such as: Carl Hansen, Flos, Liv'ít, Driad and Vitra, among others. The kitchens are equipped with induction plates and SMEG equipment designed by the major industrial architects and designers of the world.
In association with the spirit of architectonic excellence which characterises the Tróia Design Hotel, Amorim Turismo consolidated its innovative position by adding some avant-garde works to the audacious creative lines of this project. The Tróia Design Hotel Collection, a significant set of works of art by contemporary Portuguese artists, was created and included in this structure. Thus, in the Hotel lobby, a visitor will immediately recognise one of the most prominent works of current national sculpture, the Cinderella sandal, created by the artist Joana Vasconcelos. The B&G Restaurant features one of the major national artists, Pedro Cabrita Reis, created a set of paintings specifically designed for the location. The hotel also has two surprising works by the German sculptor Carlos Henrich, "One Way" and "Connected Isolation", where the author explores and mixes diverse materials without technical limitations, such as resin and seeds. For the rooms and suites, the curator Miguel von Hafe Pérez selected a set of 250 works by 44 artists, with artistic expressions as varied as painting, photography, design and a special project in vinyl by fully acclaimed and young emerging authors.
